The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) welcomes the Prime Minister and Liberal/National Coalition Government support to establish a Royal Commission (RC) into violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect of people within disability in institutional and wider community settings.
Mr Ross Joyce Chief Executive Officer of AFDO stated, “Today the Prime Minster and the Liberal/National Coalition Government have demonstrated they heard and acknowledged the request from the wider Australian community and people with disability in supporting a Royal Commission.
We look forward to working with the Government, State & Territory governments, people with disability, their families, supporters, our members and sector colleagues to ensure that the RC has clear timelines, wide consultation on the Terms of Reference and is operational as soon as possible.”
