The Diversity Field Officer Service, led by the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) in collaboration with Deakin University, works to support small and medium sized businesses (<100 employees) to increase their ‘disability confidence’ to employ people with disability. Currently operating in Geelong and the Bellarine, Victoria, AFDO is seeking to scale up the model across Australia by developing new relationships and partnerships. The Diversity Field Officer Service is one of a number of exciting initiatives developed by AFDO, in addition to people with disability led training, consultancy and capacity building.
We are seeking to recruit the right person with exceptional interpersonal skills to join our team. You will have a proven track record of securing new business and opportunities to scale up a model, developing successful partnerships that are mutually beneficial.
Reporting to the CEO and working autonomously, you will identify, canvass and secure new partnership and licencing opportunities to scale up the Diversity Field Officer Service across Australia and position AFDO and its other offerings (including consultancy and training) to a wider market.
Your role will include identifying and implementing marketing and sales strategies; identifying aligned organisations, including in the government and private sectors culminating in agreements or fee for service; preparing proposals and negotiating contracts; and providing strategic advice to inform the development of new AFDO offerings or services.

- Proven experience in preparing quality proposals resulting in securing new business
- Excellent communication skills (both presentation and in writing)
- Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and prioritise multiple tasks to meet targets
- Open to sharing knowledge and skills to build capacity of team members to identify and explore opportunities to the benefit of AFDO
- Behaviours that reflect AFDO’s values
- Knowledge of the workings of local, State and Federal governments
Personal experience of disability and/or experience working with people with disability would be highly regarded.
Work Mode:Full time (up to 37.5 hours per week), or option of a part time (30hours per week). A nine day fortnight may be possible for the right candidate and we offer flexible work arrangements. An initial 12 month contract and potential for renewal subject to results
Location: The position will be based at AFDO’s national office in the Melbourne CBD. Will require regular work related travel across Victoria and interstate.
The successful candidate will be supported by a small and passionate national team and provided with full support to hit the ground running. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to play a leadership role in advancing the voice of people with disability, increasing employment outcomes nationwide and underpinning AFDO.
AFDO is able to offer a base salary between $85,000 to $90,000 commensurate with experience. Salary packaging is also available reducing your tax & increasing your take home pay. Days between Christmas and New Year are provided as complimentary leave in addition to your standard leave entitlements.
